Career Choices of Young People in Zetland: Analysis of Opinion Polls

There is no doubt that choosing a future career is one of the most important decisions in everybody's life. At the moment, I am doing a project called 'What career choices young people in Zetland opt for'. I have found some data (the results of the opinion polls) and in this essay I am going to analyze and comment on it.

The presented statistics reveal some facts. According to the table, the biggest number of the respondents (31.5%) reported to choose a career as an IT specialist. At the same time, only 2.4% of the surveyed are willing to become a lawyer.

Analyzing the data, we can make an interesting comparison. The number of the questioned who opted for becoming an engineer (31.4%) is almost three times as big as of those who consider choosing the job of a teacher (11.6%). This tendency shows that young people are more passionate about engineering rather than teaching because the STEM industry tends to offer higher salaries.

I think that a problem that can arise with choosing a career is that young people may struggle mentally while making this decision as it could be extremely overwhelming. A solution to this problem could be the following: school authorities should provide free mental health counseling to the students deciding on a career path to help them manage their anxiety.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that making a career choice as a teenager is extremely important. It is highly likely that this decision will influence one's future life a lot.
