Research and Innovation in Design and Technology: A Journey of Discovery
Throughout my various research activities at university, I have gradually come to realise the impact of innovative design and technology on the world we live in. Innovation, with its unique and novel perspectives, can create superior products, provide solutions to existing problems, or optimize existing designs. In the College Students' Innovative Entrepreneurial Training Plan Program, we were inspired by biomimicry of fish and combined genetic algorithms with neural networks to design a multi-vehicle trajectory algorithm. Through practical experiments using robotic fish, we achieved a complex algorithm for the separation and convergence of multiple groups in a complex waterway, providing a reference for intelligent transportation of multiple vehicles. In the Social Practice and Science Competition on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction for College Students, my team and I designed an underwater flying device for boat fouling cleaning, innovated in areas such as balance control during machine operation, nozzle design, and visual control interface, providing a new solution to the time-consuming, labor-intensive, and pollution-prone problems of existing cleaning methods. In my graduation project, I established a mathematical planning model, solved it using a genetic algorithm based on the elite preservation strategy, programmed it using MATLAB, and conducted numerical experiments to verify that the proposed yard crane scheduling model and algorithm can effectively improve the working efficiency of yard cranes and reduce yard costs. Through these research and innovation processes, I have experienced the journey from having a research idea, to constructing a model, to experiencing the application of optimization algorithms in simulation. These experiences have been extremely interesting to me. I believe that innovative thinking coupled with engineering practical skills can bring more richness and diversity to our world.
