China's Dramatic Transformation: From Alleyways to Modern Apartments

Since the opening-up and reform policy in December 1978, China has undergone tremendous changes. In 2008, China successfully hosted the Olympic Games, making history and significantly boosting the national pride of the Chinese people. The process of modernization has played a crucial role in changing the daily lives of many individuals, and my neighborhood is a prime example. I still recall the days when buying everyday supplies required passing through several streets and alleys, but now there are grocery stores and convenience stores scattered throughout the city, offering a wide range of goods. Previously, most of us lived in old houses without bathrooms, but now many families have moved into modern apartments. There are many such stories to tell, but I'll just mention a few to boost the dramatic effect.
