China's Transformation: A Glimpse from My Neighborhood

Since the reform and opening-up policy in December 1978, China has undergone tremendous changes. The successful hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games in China not only made history but also greatly enhanced the national pride of the Chinese people. The process of modernization has played an important role in changing the daily lives of many people, including my neighbors.

I remember that in the past, we had to walk through several streets to buy daily necessities. Nowadays, there are grocery stores and convenience stores everywhere in the city, with a rich variety of goods. Most of us used to live in old houses without bathrooms, but now many families have moved into new modern apartment buildings. There are many more examples like this, but I just want to mention a few.
