Good afternoon, everyone. I am here to present my research on the use of translation software by university students when completing translation assignments. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether or not university students use translation software when completing translation assignments and how to use it correctly to save time while achieving the desired translation results.

In today's digital world, translation software is becoming increasingly popular, and with the rise of the 'Internet + Education' concept, information technology and the learning methods of university students are constantly merging. The use of translation software during the translation process has become a common practice. Compared to more time-consuming and laborious manual translation, translation software can help us meet our basic daily needs more quickly and easily. Therefore, the research question is whether or not university students use translation software when completing translation assignments, and if so, how to use it correctly to save time while achieving the desired translation results.

The significance of this study lies in the fact that with the development of globalization, the world's countries are becoming increasingly interconnected, and economic, political, cultural, and academic exchanges between different countries are becoming more frequent. Especially after joining the WTO, China's development has been closely linked to the world. In the context of globalization and regional integration, translation work has also entered a new stage of development. This trend has brought more diverse translation texts, as well as more opportunities and challenges for us English majors. At the same time, completely manual translation will gradually disappear in the development trend of 'Internet +'. With the advent of more and more translation software, English majors are becoming increasingly adept at handling translation assignments: faster and more efficient. However, as in the future, computers will be unable to replace the human brain for a long time, and it will be difficult for translation software to reach the level and quality of manual translation. Therefore, this study will explore the use of translation software in translation practice through surveys and analyses. The survey will explore the basic situation of English majors using translation software when completing translation assignments, such as usage frequency, whether or not they modify the translated text, and their feelings about the quality of the machine translation after completing the translation. Based on this, this study will compare the quality of various translation software and find the correct method of using translation software in translation practice. This will not only enrich the selection of translation software in translation practice, improve the shortcomings and singularity of current English major students in completing translation assignments, but also help solve the problem of English major students feeling helpless when facing texts in different fields during translation. Secondly, by analyzing the basic situation of using translation software, this study can improve the understanding of English major students' translation habits by various teachers, understand their characteristics in translation habits, and prescribe the right medicine to assign more targeted and diverse translation assignments.

The research method used in this study is a questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted on third and fourth-year English majors at Nanjing Normal University. The survey mainly explored the use of translation software by English majors when completing translation assignments. The results showed that the vast majority of English majors use translation software to assist in completing translation assignments because they believe that it can save time and energy, improve translation accuracy, and even improve their translation abilities. However, they realize that the translation provided by translation software is not perfect, and they always modify the machine translation text to make it more grammatically correct, fluent, and coherent.

The structure of this thesis includes an introduction, literature review, research purpose, research significance, research methods, survey design, data analysis, survey results, and conclusions. In conclusion, this study has explored the use of translation software by university students when completing translation assignments and how to use it correctly. The results indicate that the use of translation software is a common practice among English majors, and it can help save time and improve the quality of translation. However, it is important to recognize that machine translation is not perfect, and modifications are often necessary to achieve the desired translation results. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the right translation software and use it correctly to achieve the desired results. Thank you.
