How Parzival Defeats Sorrento in Ready Player One Chapter 35

In chapter 35 of Ready Player One, Parzival defeats Sorrento by using a clever trick. He creates a fake copy of the final gate, which Sorrento believes is the real one. Sorrento then proceeds to enter the fake gate, which triggers a fail-safe mechanism that erases his character from the game, effectively 'killing' him.

Parzival had anticipated that Sorrento would try to cheat his way through the final gate, and so he had set up the trap to catch him. By doing so, Parzival not only saves the OASIS from falling into the hands of IOI, but he also avenges the death of his friend, Daito, who was killed by Sorrento earlier in the book.
