APA 7th Edition: How to Cite a Quote from Another Source

To cite someone else's quote using APA 7th style, follow these steps:

1. Start with the author's last name, followed by a comma and the initials of their first and middle names (if available).

2. Include the year of publication in parentheses.

3. Add the title of the work in italics, followed by a comma.

4. Include the page number(s) where the quote appears, preceded by 'p.' or 'pp.' (for multiple pages).

5. Place the entire citation in parentheses and end with a period.

Example:

According to Smith (2021), 'The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall' (p. 15).

Note: If the quote is longer than 40 words, it should be indented in a block quote format and cited differently.
