Deadaptation: What Happens When Organisms Lose Adaptations?

The pattern of deadaptation refers to the process by which an organism reverts back to its original state or loses its adapted traits when the environmental conditions change back to their original state. This can occur over generations as the traits that were once advantageous in the changed environment are no longer beneficial in the original environment.
