Gusu Constraint Standing Training (GCST): A Novel Approach for Lower Limb Motor Control Disorders
While there is currently no ideal solution in the field of rehabilitation medicine for improving lower limb motor control disorders, common treatment methods still involve the comprehensive use of muscle strength, stretching, balance, standing, transfer, gait, and vibration training.[6] The treatment theory is still based on the neurofacilitation techniques framework established many years ago, such as Bobath, PNF, and movement relearning.[7-9] To address the lack of rehabilitation treatments that directly target lower limb motor control disorders and provide predictable significant therapeutic effects, our team developed Gusu Constraint Standing Training (GCST). This innovative approach is suitable for patients with lower limb motor control disorders and features clear operating steps. It draws inspiration from the basic functions and characteristics of lower limb movement, combined with clinical experience. First published as Constraint Standing Training in Archives of Rehabilitation Research and Clinical Translation in 2021,[10] GCST presents a promising new avenue for addressing lower limb motor control disorders.
