We investigated the influence of different factors on thermal errors in the feed system. The impact of electric spindle heating on the measurement of positioning error in the X-axis feed system was studied, and experiments at different feed rates revealed the influence of non-motion heating, motion heating, and comprehensive heating on the feed system. It was proved that the thermal error of the X-axis feed system is caused by the superposition of thermal errors caused by non-motion heating and motion heating. The impact of electric spindle heating on the measurement of positioning error in the Z-axis feed system was also studied, and the influence was eliminated by preheating experiments. The influence of feed rate on the thermal error of the Z-axis feed system was obtained through thermal error experiments at different feed rates.
