Our conclusion is robust in sensitivity experiments where riverine source rock materials of the same type enter the sea, although the magnitude of POC flux variations is somewhat sensitive to the strength of the riverine source rock materials and the mean state of the model. Therefore, we consistently select the results of the lowest strength forcing case within the same type for detailed presentation.
