Corn Ear Temperature Measurement Methods: A Detailed Guide for Researchers
A digital sensor was placed inside each shelter situated at the center of the plots. The GSP-6 sensor was specifically hung from the upper ear leaf in the middle of each plot, maintained at a vertical suspension height of approximately 150 cm. The corresponding canopy temperature readings are presented in Table 1. In 2019, ten ears were measured in each replication at DAS 85. In 2020, measurements were taken with 5-7 day intervals throughout the entire grain filling period. These measurements were obtained using a Yaxin-0233 tool, which utilizes thermal techniques and is manufactured by Beijing Yaxin Technology Co., Ltd. The measurements were conducted between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. To obtain the temperature, the corn bract leaf was pierced with a probe, which was then inserted into the middle ear level.
