To build the corpus for this study, we handpicked 34 news pieces from ChinaDaily that featured the terms 'lying flat' and '996' and were in line with our definition of lying flat. Furthermore, we also chose 32 articles from official Chinese media accounts on the WeChat public account platform that mentioned 'lying flat'.
