Primarchs: The Leaders of the Space Marines in Warhammer 40k

Primarchs are genetically-engineered superhuman beings in the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000. They were created by the Emperor of Mankind as the leaders of his Space Marine legions during the Great Crusade. Each Primarch was designed to embody a specific aspect of the Emperor's personality and was meant to be the pinnacle of human potential. There were originally 20 Primarchs, but two were lost during the creation process, and one turned traitor, leaving 17 loyalist Primarchs to fight for the Emperor during the Horus Heresy.
