B-Site Youngsters: Optimistic About America, Pessimistic About Themselves - A Real 'Dickensian' Dilemma!
Folks, I've been watching some videos on this B site and I noticed something very interesting. When it comes to the big picture stuff like industry upgrades and international relations, the comments are all sunshine and rainbows. We're all getting better and our enemies are getting worse. And if you have that kind of attitude, you'll get all the likes.
But when it comes to stuff like housing prices and young people not having babies, the comments are all doom and gloom. Everyone's either giving up and lying down or venting their frustrations. And anyone who tries to be positive and say that things aren't so bad gets roasted.
Now if we assume that the audience watching these videos is fixed, let's say they're all young people, then we see a strange phenomenon. They're super optimistic about the country's future, but they're super pessimistic about their own future. And that's just plain contradictory. We can't say that industry upgrades are definitely going to succeed and technology blockades are definitely going to be broken when everyone is feeling so down, and at the same time say that the country is definitely going to develop and not think that this development will improve the growth and living environment of young people.
Why are the young people of the Internet age so 'split'? I don't know, maybe this is our Dickensian era. 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.'
