Why Did the American Revolutionary War End in 1783 After the Siege of Yorktown in 1781?

Although the siege of Yorktown was a significant turning point in the American Revolutionary War, it was not the end of the war. The British surrendered at Yorktown on October 19, 1781, but there were still other battles and skirmishes that occurred after that date, particularly in the southern colonies. Additionally, negotiations for peace between the American colonies and Great Britain continued for another two years until the Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, formally ending the war.
