Despite是一个常用的英语单词，表示‘尽管’‘不顾’‘虽然’等意思。它通常用来表示两个相反的事情之间的关系，即A和B是相反的，但是B并没有影响A的发生或存在。

despite通常用于句子的开头或中间，后面跟着名词、代词或动词的-ing形式。例如：

• She went to the party despite feeling sick.（尽管感觉不舒服，她还是去了派对。）

despite与although的区别

虽然despite和although都可以表示‘尽管’，但是用法略有不同。Although通常用于句子的开头，后面跟着一个完整的句子。而despite则用于名词、代词或动词的-ing形式之后。

• Although it was raining, we went to the park.（尽管下雨，我们还是去了公园。）
• Despite the fact that it was raining, we went to the park.（尽管下雨，我们还是去了公园。）

注意事项

在使用despite时，需要注意以下几点：

• despite和in spite of意思相同，但是in spite of通常用于句子中，后面跟着一个名词。例如：In spite of the rain, we went to the park.（尽管下雨，我们还是去了公园。）
• despite后面的名词、代词或动词的-ing形式不能用介词of连接，因为despite本身就有‘不受’的意思。例如：Despite of the rain是错误的表达。
• despite通常用于正式的书面语言中，口语中更常用although或though。
