什么是 despite

Despite 是一个表示‘尽管’、‘虽然’的词语，通常用于引出两种情况之间的对比。在句子中，despite 通常与介词‘of’ 或 ‘the’ 搭配使用。

despite 的用法

1. Despite + 名词/代词

例如：Despite the rain, we went for a walk.（虽然下雨，我们还是去散步了。）

2. Despite + 动名词

例如：Despite being tired, he continued to work.（尽管很累，他还是继续工作。）

3. Despite + 从句

例如：Despite the fact that he was sick, he still went to work.（尽管他病了，他还是去上班了。）

despite 与 although 的区别

虽然 despite 和 although 都表示‘尽管’，但是它们的用法有所不同。

1. Although 通常用于引出两种相反的情况，而 despite 则用于引出对比的情况。

例如：Although it was cold outside, she went out without a coat.（尽管外面很冷，她还是没有穿外套出门了。）

2. Although 在句子中可以放在句首或句中，而 despite 通常放在句首。

例如：Although he was tired, he continued to work. / He continued to work although he was tired.

Despite the rain, we went for a walk. / We went for a walk despite the rain.

despite 的注意事项

1. Despite 后面的名词或代词需要使用形容词性物主代词。

例如：Despite his busy schedule, he always finds time for his family.（尽管他的日程很忙，他总是有时间陪伴家人。）

2. Despite 的后面不能使用主语从句。

例如：Despite he is tired, he still went to work.（错误）

正确的写法是：Despite the fact that he is tired, he still went to work.
