什么是Despite

Despite是一个英语单词，意为‘尽管’，常用于表达一种对比关系，表示两种情况之间的差异。在句子中，它通常出现在主语和谓语之间，用于引出一个与主语相反的情况。

Despite后面通常跟着一个名词或动名词，用于表示‘尽管某种情况存在’，如：

Despite the bad weather, we still went for a walk.（尽管天气很糟糕，我们还是去散步了。）

Despite having a headache, she still went to work.（尽管头疼，她还是去上班了。）

除了名词和动名词，Despite后面还可以跟着从句，用于表示‘尽管某种情况存在，但……’，如：

Despite the fact that she was tired, she still stayed up late to finish her work.（尽管她很累，但她还是熬夜完成了工作。）

Despite与In spite of意思相同，都表示‘尽管’，但它们在使用上还是有一些区别的：

1. Despite通常放在句首，而In spite of通常放在句中，如：

Despite the rain, we had a great time.（尽管下雨，我们还是玩得很开心。）

We had a great time, in spite of the rain.（尽管下雨，我们还是玩得很开心。）

2. Despite后面通常跟着名词或动名词，而In spite of后面通常跟着名词或代词，如：

Despite her busy schedule, she always finds time to exercise.（尽管她的日程很忙，她总是能找到时间锻炼。）

In spite of the traffic, he arrived on time.（尽管遇到了交通堵塞，他还是准时到达了。）
