HTML5: A Powerful Tool for Event Planning, but with Limitations
HTML5 is an advanced web technology that offers several benefits for event planning. Its cross-platform capability eliminates the need for users to download apps, enhancing information dissemination and removing barriers. Furthermore, HTML5 pages are simple, low in development costs, and require less code, resulting in significant time savings. However, the link between HTML5 pages and users is short, meaning users can't actively access them once they leave. Unlike app user identification, HTML5 assigns a unique code stored in the browser's cache, which can be lost when the cache is cleared or the browser uninstalled. This makes it difficult to personalize experiences and recognize returning users without requiring them to log in. Event planners often utilize QR codes to link H5 mini-programs, as attendees are more inclined to register for events and access information by scanning codes than downloading apps. This method also simplifies post-event surveys. For instance, we employed various H5 platforms for an event, using a mini-program for registration and a QR code-linked H5 page for post-event surveys. We also implemented a lottery through an H5 page on WeChat. Despite these conveniences, H5 pages struggle with personalized customer identification. User interaction relies on their interest in the event, making it challenging to maintain engagement. The lack of personalized identification limits the ability to design activities that effectively cater to existing customers.
