Old Professor's 'Foot Massage Paradise' - The American Dream, China Style?

So, I'm watching this old professor, right, and he's giving this whole speech about his life as a senior citizen. It's pretty interesting, I'll give him that. He's spending over ten thousand bucks every month at this foot massage place. Yeah, you heard me right. He's in his seventies, and his two sons both went to study abroad. They're working over there now, no plans on coming back. His wife passed away a while back, so he's all by himself. His son even tried to bring him over to live in the US, but he couldn't adjust to the language. He only speaks Russian, so it's like he's from another planet. He couldn't even chat with the neighbors, not even the old ladies on the street. He had to wear a name tag with his name on it. Like some kind of lost puppy. Talk about embarrassing. It was just too much for him, so he came back to China.

You know, he found this new foot massage place right across the street from his apartment. He goes there all the time because all his kids and grandkids are over there in the US. He's got nothing else to do. He just hangs out and chats with the girls. He keeps an eye out for any 'real' customers, you know, the ones who actually want a massage. He's like a guardian angel of sorts. He says these girls have a tough life. They're just trying to make a living, they don't plan on doing this forever. Some of them want to save up some money and marry a good guy back home. They're not looking to stay in the big city. They're pretty down-to-earth, you know, good girls.

He's a regular there. He eats and sleeps at the place. He actually tried having one of the girls come to his apartment to cook for him, but she thought he was some kind of weirdo. She didn't want to talk to him. So, he's happier at the foot massage place. The girls love to hear his stories. He even calls ahead and asks them what they want to eat. He goes to the market and buys all the ingredients. Fish, shrimp, crab, meat, eggs, the whole shebang. He doesn't even know how to cook, but the girls can. So, they all eat together, laughing and having a good time. When they're not working, the girls sit at the entrance, doing embroidery or watching those silly videos on their phones. He's out in the courtyard, soaking up the sun. He told me he spends about ten thousand dollars a month living like this. He's in his seventies, so he doesn't need to save money for anyone.
