Impact of Preservation Time on Boar Sperm Motility and Progressive Motility
The motility and progressive motility of spermatozoa are both affected by the duration of preservation. Comparing the two sperm parameters, no significant difference was observed between day 0 and day 1. However, progressive motility exhibited a significant difference on the second day of preservation (P < 0.05). From the third day onwards, both motility and progressive motility of the two sperm groups displayed significant discrepancies (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the sperm motility of the PPE group decreased by 16.21% and progressive motility decreased by 16.33% during the initial three days of preservation, while the motility decreased by 3.55% and the progressive motility decreased by 8.74% in the GPE group. Table 1 presents the motility (TM) and progressive motility (PM) parameters and comparative results of the two boar semen sample groups, GPE and PPE, assessed at varying preservation durations under a temperature of 17℃.
