Before scanning, the sheep is given a full-body anesthesia by intravenous injection of 1.0 milliliter of chlorpromazine hydrochloride. The anesthetized animal is then placed in a supine position on the CT scanning platform and secured to ensure that the front hooves are bent and the hind hooves are naturally extended. The sheep's head is flipped up, and eye covers are placed over the eyes to protect them from radiation. The sheep scan is shown in Figure 1. After the scan is completed, the animal is sent to a waiting area to wake up.
