Top Dressing: How Sand Builds Up on Golf Greens

This is what we call in the industry 'top dressing' with sand, as well as other sand particles blown in from sand traps, and the color that doesn't accumulate in low areas of the green. This will cause it to rise over the years, forming this barrier, so surface water cannot flow through.
