This study adopts a multidimensional approach to assess the progress of intelligent development in Chinese cities between 2011 and 2019. Our analysis focuses on three key dimensions: conditions, application, and technology. Drawing on the chain intermediary effect model and spatial modeling techniques, we reveal that intelligent development can effectively address the issue of human capital mismatch. Notably, the infrastructure condition of intelligent development has the greatest impact on this outcome. This positive effect is achieved through two channels: income structure adjustment and factor flow. In terms of spatial effects, areas with similar economic foundations benefit from positive spillover effects, while proximity can exacerbate mismatches due to the siphon effect.
