Drawing from the chain intermediary effect model and spatial model, our study demonstrates that intelligent development has the potential to mitigate human capital mismatch, with the greatest impact stemming from improvements in infrastructure. This favorable outcome is mediated through two channels, namely income structure adjustment and factor flow. Moreover, regions sharing a similar economic base stand to benefit from the corrective spillover effects of mismatch reduction while proximity can exacerbate the degree of mismatch through a siphon effect.
