Table 12 presents the SDM estimation results, wherein we adopt a decomposition approach to avoid potential estimation bias. Specifically, we report the direct and indirect effects of each explanatory variable, with the former denoting the overall impact of intelligent development on human capital mismatch in the region, and the latter indicating the spillover effect of intelligent development on human capital mismatch in neighboring areas. The results indicate that the direct effect of intelligent development on human capital mismatch is consistently negative across all three weight matrices, while the indirect effect is positive under the geographic correlation model but negative under the economic correlation model. This suggests that intelligent development can effectively alleviate human capital mismatch within the local region, but may have adverse effects on neighboring areas. However, regions with similar economic development levels may benefit from positive spillover effects of intelligent development on human capital mismatch.
