APOE ε4 Carriers Show Stronger Association Between Cardiovascular Health and Brain Age

This study suggests that the relationship between cardiovascular health (CVH) score and brain age is more pronounced among individuals who carry the APOE ε4 gene, which is a known risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, for every 1-point increase in CVH score, the brain age of APOE ε4 carriers was estimated to be 0.030 years younger than expected, compared to 0.028 years younger for non-carriers. This finding highlights the importance of maintaining good cardiovascular health, especially for individuals at increased genetic risk for dementia.
