Birdwatching Heroes: Two Teenagers Save Osprey Eggs

He was going to row over to the ospreys' island! Mike and I looked at each other in shock. We couldn't let him disturb the birds or their nest. We decided to watch him closely and see what he was up to. As the man climbed into the inflatable boat and began paddling towards the island, we followed him along the bank. We could see him looking up at the nest, and we knew he was up to no good.

Seeing him climbing up the tree, I knew it was the time to call the police. Mike and I quickly retreated and made our way back up the track to the car. As soon as we were out of sight, we ran to the nearest phone box and dialed 999. We explained the situation to the operator, and within minutes, a police car arrived at the scene.

The man was arrested and taken away by the police. We later found out that he was a collector of rare bird eggs and had been planning to take the osprey's eggs from their nest. Thanks to our quick thinking, the ospreys and their eggs were safe. Mike and I were hailed as heroes and even received a commendation from the RSPB. From that day on, we made a vow to always protect the birds and their habitats.
