Renowned Scientist's Groundbreaking Contributions to Cell Signaling and Microscopy

Over 190 papers have been published to date, with over 17,000 citations, including over 10 papers published in Science, Nature, and Cell. The main academic contributions are as follows: (1) Study of cellular calcium signaling: discovered the smallest unit of cell calcium signaling and named it 'Calcium Spark,' thereby establishing a new field of study called Calcium Sparkology. The original paper was hailed as one of the top ten outstanding myocardial papers in over 100 years, and related achievements have been written into various physiology and medical textbooks at home and abroad. (2) Study of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species: published a series of original works on 'mitoflash/superoxide flash,' which opened up new perspectives for the study of cell reactive oxygen signaling and regulation, and won the International Society of Cardiology's 'Research Achievement Award.' (3) Creation of high-end scientific research instruments: led a team to successfully develop a 2.2-gram miniature two-photon fluorescence microscope, which, for the first time internationally, recorded the dynamic activities of neuronal networks and synapses at the level of freely behaving animals. This achievement was awarded the 'Top Ten Scientific Advances in China in 2017' and was selected as the 'Method of the Year 2018' by Nature Methods. In 2020, it won the He Liang He Li Foundation's 'Science and Technology Progress Award,' and in 2021, it was awarded the Advanced Individual for the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Jiusan Society and the National China Outstanding Scholar Award for 2021 at Peking University.
