我本科时最喜欢的课程是流行病学。我觉得学习疾病在人群中的模式和分布，以及如何利用这些知识来预防和控制疫情非常有趣。

其中一个我觉得特别有趣的例子是新冠病毒是如何被追溯到杭州的一台电梯上的。事实上，我正好在2021年实习时在杭州，所以这个故事对我来说很真实。

这个故事说的是，一个去过武汉的女人在被诊断出新冠肺炎之前，曾经乘坐了她公寓楼里的电梯。之后，楼里的几位居民也被感染了，调查人员最终追溯到了那个女人按过的电梯按钮上。

这个故事突显了接触者追踪的重要性，以及即使是小细节也能帮助我们理解疾病的传播。它也强调了在封闭空间（如电梯）中严格的卫生措施的必要性。

Why I Love Epidemiology

My favorite course during my undergraduate studies was epidemiology. I found it fascinating to learn about the patterns and distribution of diseases in populations, and how we can use that knowledge to prevent and control outbreaks.

One example that I found particularly interesting was the story of how the COVID-19 virus was traced back to an elevator in Hangzhou. I was actually interning in Hangzhou in 2021 when this happened, so it felt very real to me.

The story goes that a woman who had been to Wuhan, where the virus first emerged, took the elevator in her apartment building before being diagnosed with COVID-19. Several other residents in the building later became infected, and investigators were able to trace the virus back to the elevator button that the woman had touched.

This story highlights the importance of contact tracing and how even small details can help us understand the spread of a disease. It also underscores the need for rigorous hygiene measures, especially in enclosed spaces like elevators.
