Hi everyone, I'm a nursing undergraduate from Bengbu Medical College, and I recently crossed over to study Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Fudan University. I've been fortunate enough to receive second and third level scholarships, as well as awards for being an excellent team member, volunteer, and class leader.

But today, I want to share a story with you. In my sophomore year, I had the opportunity to go to a nursing home as part of a volunteer program. I was initially hesitant because I had never interacted with the elderly before, but I decided to give it a try.

When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the residents, who were eager to chat and share their life experiences with me. Over the course of the day, I learned so much from them - from their hobbies and interests to their struggles and hardships.

One particular resident, Mrs. Li, stood out to me. She was a former teacher who had lived in the nursing home for several years after suffering from a stroke. Despite her physical limitations, she remained sharp and articulate. She told me about her passion for education and how she missed being in the classroom.

Inspired by Mrs. Li's story, I decided to organize a weekly tutoring session for the nursing home residents. I recruited a group of volunteers, and we spent every Saturday morning teaching basic reading and writing skills. It was a small gesture, but it brought so much joy and fulfillment to both the residents and ourselves.

This experience taught me the importance of empathy and understanding, especially towards those who may be overlooked or marginalized in society. It also reinforced my belief in the power of education to make a difference in people's lives.

Thank you for listening to my story, and I look forward to learning from all of you in the future.
