Nursing Student with GCP Expertise and Research Experience Applying for Public Health Graduate Program

As a nursing student preparing for the cross-disciplinary entrance examination of public health, I have participated in a national-level project named 'Self-management plan for COPD stable patients centered on information needs' and personally led a community project aimed at preventing falls in elderly people, though it was not awarded eventually. Furthermore, I possess the ICH-GCP certificate and received GCP training organized by the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association. During my internship in Hangzhou Normal University Affiliated Hospital, I delivered several small lectures and made a presentation. Based on the above materials, I would like to present my research strengths in the following aspects:

First of all, I have accumulated rich experience in project design and implementation, especially in nursing-related studies. The 'Self-management plan for COPD stable patients centered on information needs' project allowed me to have a deep insight into how to set up a targeted, individualized, and feasible intervention plan for patients with COPD. Meanwhile, my community project aimed at preventing falls in elderly people brought me closer to the grassroots level and helped me to grasp the real needs of the elderly population. With such experience, I am confident in designing and conducting nursing research projects.

Secondly, I have a solid foundation in GCP and research ethics. During my training, I have learned the principles and practices of good clinical practice, which is essential for conducting clinical research. In addition, I have a clear understanding of the ethical issues related to research involving human subjects, such as informed consent, confidentiality, and protection of vulnerable groups. With this knowledge, I can ensure that my research projects are conducted in a rigorous and ethical manner.

Finally, I have excellent communication and presentation skills. During my internship, I have delivered several small lectures to patients and their families, which helped me to improve my communication skills and build rapport with them. Moreover, I have made a presentation on my community project, which allowed me to showcase my research findings and demonstrate my ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. With such skills, I am confident in communicating my research findings with various stakeholders, including patients, healthcare professionals, and policymakers.
