Engaging Primary School English Talking Lesson: Classroom Objects and Location
Teaching Design Plan: Primary School English Talking Lesson - Classroom Objects and Location
I. Warm-up Activity (5 minutes)
- Greet the students and ask them to name some objects they see in a classroom.
- Use flashcards or pictures to introduce new vocabulary words: 'classroom', 'picture', 'window'.
- Engage the students in a short dialogue using the new words: Teacher: 'What's in the classroom?' Student: 'A picture.' Teacher: 'Where is it?' Student: 'Near the window.'
II. Presentation (15 minutes)
- Show a picture of a classroom and ask the students to identify the objects in it.
- Use a map to point out the position of the objects in the classroom.
- Use the dialogue text to model the sentence pattern: 'What's in the classroom? Where is it? It's near the window.'
- Ask the students to repeat the sentence and practice the intonation.
III. Practice (20 minutes)
- Divide the class into pairs and give each pair a picture of a classroom with objects in it.
- Ask the students to take turns asking and answering questions using the sentence pattern.
- Walk around the classroom and provide feedback on pronunciation and sentence structure.
- Use peer assessment by asking students to listen to their partner and provide feedback.
IV. Novel Presentation Method (10 minutes)
- Play a game of 'What's missing?' with the objects in the classroom picture.
- Remove one object and ask the students to identify what is missing.
- Use the sentence pattern to describe the location of the missing object: 'It's not near the window.'
V. Self-Assessment (5 minutes)
- Ask the students to reflect on their progress and identify areas they need to work on.
- Use a checklist to help the students self-assess their speaking skills.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
VI. Closure (5 minutes)
- Recap the key points and vocabulary words.
- Ask the students to practice the sentence pattern one more time.
- Encourage the students to use the new vocabulary words and sentence pattern in their daily conversations.
Note: This teaching design plan can be adjusted based on the level and needs of the students. It's important to provide a variety of activities to engage the students and make the lesson fun and effective.
