Primary School English Lesson Plan: Talking About a Classroom

Grade level: Primary School (ages 6-8)

Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand and use the words 'classroom', 'picture', and 'window', as well as the sentence pattern 'What's in the classroom? Where is it? It's near the window.'

Materials:

Pictures of a classroom
Flashcards with the target vocabulary
A worksheet for practice
A whiteboard and markers

Introduction (5 minutes):

Greet students and introduce the topic of the lesson: talking about a classroom.
Ask students to brainstorm things they might find in a classroom and write them on the whiteboard.
Show pictures of a classroom and ask students to point out different objects in the room.

Presentation (15 minutes):

Introduce the three target vocabulary words: classroom, picture, and window. Show flashcards with pictures and words, and ask students to repeat the words after you.
Use the dialogue text to model the sentence pattern: 'What's in the classroom? Where is it? It's near the window.' Ask students to repeat the sentences after you.
Ask students to identify the target vocabulary and sentence pattern in the dialogue text.

Dialogue text: Hey, Zhang Peng. We have a new classroom. Really? What's in the classroom? Let's go and see. It's so big! Look! My picture! Where is it? It's near the window.

Practice (20 minutes):

Divide students into pairs and give each pair a picture of a classroom.
Ask students to take turns asking and answering questions using the target sentence pattern: 'What's in the classroom? Where is it? It's near the window.' Encourage students to use the target vocabulary as well.
Monitor students and provide feedback on their pronunciation and use of the target language.

Production (10 minutes):

Ask students to individually complete a worksheet where they draw a picture of a classroom and write sentences about what is in the room and where it is located.
Collect the worksheets and provide feedback on students' use of the target language.

Conclusion (5 minutes):

Review the target vocabulary and sentence pattern with the class.
Encourage students to continue practicing using the language they learned in the lesson.
