Two-Minute Play: 'The Lost Wallet'

Characters:

  • JENNY, a young woman in her mid-20s
  • MIKE, a middle-aged man in his 40s

Scene: A busy street in the city

(JENNY walks down the street, looking at her phone. She bumps into MIKE, who drops his wallet on the ground.)

JENNY: Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!

MIKE: It's okay, no harm done.

(JENNY helps MIKE pick up his things.)

JENNY: Is everything okay?

MIKE: Yes, thank you. Just dropped my wallet.

JENNY: Oh, I see. Here you go.

(JENNY hands MIKE his wallet.)

MIKE: Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

JENNY: No problem. Have a nice day.

(MIKE walks away, but as he does, he drops a piece of paper without noticing.)

JENNY: Excuse me, sir! You dropped something!

MIKE: Oh, thank you.

(MIKE takes the paper from JENNY.)

JENNY: Wait, is that a lottery ticket?

MIKE: Yeah, I bought it earlier today.

JENNY: Do you mind if I take a look?

MIKE: Sure, go ahead.

(JENNY looks at the ticket.)

JENNY: Oh my God, you won!

MIKE: What? Let me see.

(MIKE looks at the ticket, in disbelief.)

MIKE: I can't believe it. I won!

JENNY: Congratulations! How much did you win?

MIKE: $10,000.

JENNY: Wow, that's amazing.

MIKE: Thank you so much for helping me. I wouldn't have even known I won without you.

JENNY: It's no problem at all. I'm just glad I could help.

MIKE: Here, I want to give you something as a thank you.

(MIKE takes out his wallet and gives JENNY a $100 bill.)

JENNY: Oh, you don't have to do that.

MIKE: Please, take it. You deserve it.

JENNY: Thank you so much. You're too kind.

MIKE: No, you're the kind one. I'm grateful for your help.

(JENNY and MIKE smile at each other.)

JENNY: Well, I've got to go. Take care.

MIKE: You too. Thank you again.

(JENNY walks away, feeling happy that she could help someone in need.)

The end.
