High-Power Tm:YAG Laser with Improved Efficiency and Reliability
Innovation points:
- Unlike the commonly used 785nm LD pump source in previous studies, we have chosen a 780nm pump source. This choice ensures that the pump light within the crystal rod can maintain a uniform distribution over a wide range of driving currents, which is beneficial for high-power output.
- The designed single laser module uses a single-channel water cooling method to cool both the crystal and LD at the same temperature. This not only ensures cooling efficiency but also reduces the device volume, improving the practicality of this laser system.
- The resonator cavity length of this Tm:YAG laser in our study is the shortest among all reported studies, making the device structure compact and reliable.
- The cooling temperature of this Tm:YAG laser system in our study is 12℃, which is higher than all previous reported hundred-watt level Tm:YAG lasers. This avoids the problem of crystal damage caused by end-face condensation at low cooling temperatures, improving the system's reliability and practicality. Additionally, at this temperature, the system's slope efficiency of 32.7% is the highest among all reported studies.
