Huanghua Port Vessel Damage Update: Tanktop Damage and Repair Plan

Further to the said matter, the following was updated:

After receiving the instructions, our surveyor set out immediately from Tianjin and arrived at the #4 terminal of Huanghua port around 1800hrs on Apr 27, 2023. After communication with the Master of the subject vessel about the accident situation of the No. 9 cargo hold, our surveyor learned the below information.

1. According to the Master's information, around 2300hrs on Apr 26, during discharging cargo from the No. 9 cargo hold, due to a violent operation by the stevedore, the grab impacted the tanktop, causing the steel plate of the tanktop to be damaged and the water ingress into the cargo hold from WBT No. 5 port side.

2. The ABS surveyor was onboard on the morning of Apr 27 and inspected the damaged condition and determined the repair area, method, and materials. Finally, the ABS surveyor issued a damage report.

3. Around 1830hrs, our surveyor joined with the C/O and entered the No. 9 cargo hold to check the damaged condition, and found that there was an obvious impact point on the surface of the tanktop, and the impact injuries were newly formed. The impact point was about 20mm deep and the tear length was about 20mm. The back of the impacted tanktop was deformed, with about 150mm in length and about 50mm in width, and the surface paint detachment. The steel plate of the repair area was 1260mm in length, 1000mm in width, and 23.5mm in thickness.

4. The repair team will onboard around 2200hrs on Apr 27, but due to the MSA does not allow the firework on board during night time at this stage, the repair team is in consultation with the MSA and hopes to carry out repair work as soon as possible. If the MSA insists on not agreeing to the firework at night, the repair work will commence in the morning of Apr 28 and is completed in the afternoon on the same day. After the repair work is completed, the ABS surveyor will board again for inspection and issue a report.

5. The discharging operation will be completed around 2400hrs on Apr 27, and the ETD is not fixed at this stage.
