Challenges and Advancements in Underwater Visual Target Recognition and Tracking
Underwater environments present unique challenges for visual target recognition and tracking. The significant attenuation of light underwater, coupled with the high computational complexity and weak robustness of traditional methods, poses numerous challenges to the precise real-time recognition, tracking, and localization of underwater visual targets. These challenges greatly restrict the application and development of underwater optical vision detection technology as well as the level of intelligence of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs). Researchers are actively exploring innovative solutions, such as advanced image processing techniques, machine learning algorithms, and novel sensor designs, to overcome these obstacles and enhance the performance of underwater vision systems.
