Db12 Wavelet Outperforms in Crack Signal Denoising: A Comparative Analysis of 11 Wavelet Basis Functions
In Figure 3, a comparative analysis of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) for 11 wavelet basis functions is presented. The results demonstrate that the db12 wavelet achieves the highest SNR value and the lowest RMSE value. This indicates that the db12 wavelet basis function exhibits superior denoising capabilities compared to the other evaluated wavelets. The superior performance of the db12 wavelet can be attributed to its inherent properties. The dbN series of wavelets, including db12, possess desirable characteristics such as orthogonality, compact support, symmetry, and vanishing moments. These properties enable the dbN wavelets to effectively preserve the essential characteristics of crack signals during the denoising process.
