Cargo Inspection Report: Moldy Cargo Found During Discharge at Huanghua Port
Please note that the discharging commenced at 2250hrs this evening. Our surveyors were able to board the vessel at 2300hrs after obtaining the boarding pass. We visually inspected the cargo from the hatch coaming and did not identify any abnormal cargo despite the low light conditions. Please refer to the attached photos for further details.
After communicating with the C/O, we learned that the cargo was loaded from Brazil on February 11th and the vessel arrived at Huanghua Port anchorage on April 7th. The hatch covers were opened for ventilation several times during the anchorage, and no cargo damage was noticed at that time. The vessel then berthed at JIHAI Terminal at 0412hrs on April 15th. During the customs inspection at 1200hrs, moldy cargo was noticed on the top surface. The moldy cargo was cleared and transferred to the shore by stevedores, and the crew roughly estimated the quantity of damaged cargo to be around 3-4Mt.
According to the foreman, the cargo was transported to the receiver's silo via conveyor belt, and the ETC would be in the night of Apr. 18, if AGW+WP. The discharging process is currently proceeding normally. The Consignee has not submitted a formal claim for the aforementioned damaged cargo. However, at the Master's request, we will assist in addressing any alleged damaged cargo and unexpected damage, if no objections are raised.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
