Absence of Correlations in LoBAL Subsamples: Implications for Ionization Change Scenario

The lack of correlations in the five LoBAL subsamples does not necessarily indicate that the ionization change scenario can be dismissed. If these BALs are saturated, even if they are affected by ionization changes, their equivalent widths (EW) may only undergo minimal or no changes at all. Another possible explanation is that these BALs could be experiencing BAL saturation or other variability mechanisms, such as clouds passing through the line of sight.
