Dear Mr. Dong,

Good day!

I would like to inform you that the writer attended the joint survey of the alleged damaged cargo at the consignee's factory this morning, as instructed on a WP basis. Also present at the joint survey were Ms. Li and her colleagues, the consignee's logistics representative, Mr. Dong from the Quality Control department, Mr. Dong, the cargo underwriter surveyor, Mr. Chen and his colleagues from CIMC, the representative of the land transportation carrier. Here are our findings:

Container:

  1. The container is generally in good condition, with only a few dents and localized rust marks. The ventilation cap is also in sound condition.
  2. The rubber seal strip at the bottom of the right-side container door is cracked, but the other rubber strips are in good condition.
  3. There is a hole on the roof plate near the right-side corner fitting, measuring approximately 3*4cm. The hole has an irregular shape and shows signs of severe rust.

Cargo:

  1. Container EITU1842706 contains a total of 48 pallets of cargo, stacked in three layers high and two rows of eight columns.

  2. The outermost layer of packaging consists of double-layer corrugated cardboard cartons placed on wooden pallets. The cargo is placed in plastic bags and then packaged in small cardboard boxes, with the small boxes supported and protected by corrugated paperboard inside the carton.

  3. The cardboard packaging of the three pallets located next to the right container door (directly below the hole) is damp and deformed, while the rest of the cargo's outer packaging remains intact. The S/N test on the wet packaging yielded a negative result. The consignee believes that only the three affected cartons of cargo need further inspection for possible water damage.

  4. The cargo in the three affected cartons is Angular Contact Ball Bearings, with 320 pieces per carton, totaling 960 pieces. Some of the internal small cardboard boxes have also been damp and deformed. There are water droplets or traces on the outside of the plastic bags, and some of the cargo's surfaces show oxidized color patches.

  5. The cargo has been sent to the QC department for inspection and sorting. However, we were not allowed to enter the workshop and could only observe the process from outside as per the factory's requirement. According to the consignee's sorting results, 648 pieces were deemed intact and ready for use. The remaining 312 pieces have varying degrees of packaging damage or water damage and require further machine inspection.

  6. According to the invoice provided by the consignee, the unit price of the cargo is 19.5 euros, and the total value of the 312 potentially affected pieces is 6,084 euros.

Other matters:

The container has been returned to CY, and the unaffected cargo has been received by the consignee without any claims. The cargo underwriter surveyor recommends that if the final inspection reveals any damages, the relevant parties should conduct a joint survey of the damaged cargo once again.

In compliance with the factory's regulations, electronic products are prohibited from being brought into the factory premises. To ensure compliance, the factory has provided us with their camera equipment to document the relevant processes. The factory has assured us that the photos will be sent to us promptly. We will prepare a report for your reference as soon as we receive the relevant photos.

Thank you for your attention!

Best regards, [Your Name]
