During the cleaning and repair period, we maintained regular telephone contact with the workers and crew, providing them with appropriate suggestions for the cleaning measures. Upon receiving a message from the crew, we were informed that the cargo tank top had been cleaned, but upon opening the cover of the bilge well, they discovered that it was filled with fuel. In response, we advised the workers to first remove the fuel from the bilge well. Subsequently, we recommended using a mixture of oil dispersant to soak the pipes, ensuring that contaminated dispersant was constantly replaced until no oil traces remained inside. After this step, we advised rinsing the pipes with clean water. All oily water was then sent ashore for proper treatment.
During the boarding inspection on July 27th, we observed that the bilge well was clean and free from any obvious oil traces. Additionally, the crew inspected the internal filters by opening the pipes and found no signs of contamination. However, there were still some small oil stains present on the surrounding area of the hatch coaming. To address this issue, the workers continued the cleaning process using a mobile platform. Finally, the cleaning work was successfully completed at 0800 on July 28th.
