The proposed antenna unit's geometrical structure is depicted in Figure 1. This unit consists of a cavity formed by drilling metallic via holes into a 0.254 mm thick Rogers 5880 laminate with a dielectric constant of 2.2. The input port, located at the bottom of the cavity, is created by cutting a slot which receives power from the feeding horn. At the top of the cavity, two slots with GeTe coating are etched, positioned at the center of each slot. For simulation purposes, a plane wave port in y-polarization serves as the feeding source at the bottom boundary, while a plane wave port in x-polarization functions as the receiving port at the top boundary. We conduct simulations to obtain the S-parameters and transmission phases under two material state settings. In Group 1, the GeTe on the left slot is in an amorphous state, while the GeTe on the right slot is in a crystalline state. In Group 2, the GeTe on the left slot is in a crystalline state, and the GeTe on the right slot is in an amorphous state. The simulated results for both groups are plotted in Figure 2. The reflection coefficients for both groups remain below -10dB within a bandwidth of 4.4% (88 to 92 GHz). Additionally, the transmission phase exhibits a 180° phase difference between the different material states. Consequently, using the GeTe material, we can achieve a 1-bit reconfigurable unit cell
