Crack Detection in Cladding Layers Using Penetrant Testing and Signal Processing
Compared to Figure 1(c), the cracked cladding layer sample in Figure 1(a) clearly exhibits numerous cracks after being treated with a color penetrant testing agent. These cracks are widespread throughout the sample. A comparison of the signal waveforms in Figure 1(b) and (d) further highlights this observation. The crack signals in Figure 1(b) show significant mutations with amplitudes notably higher than normal signals. These points of amplitude mutation indicate the occurrence of a crack event. However, the crack waveform in Figure 1(b) also reveals a significant amount of noise interference. This noise makes some crack signals less prominent, making it challenging to definitively distinguish them as signals of crack occurrence. To overcome this, we employ frequency domain analysis and denoising techniques on the original crack signals. This processing is crucial for accurate subsequent waveform analysis.
