Journals This study employed Vosviewer to conduct bibliographic coupling analysis of the literature, as illustrated in Figure 2. The network visualization presented in the figure depicts the relative publication quantity of journals in the field of carbon finance and carbon markets. The proximity of the links between journals indicates the degree of similarity in their published content. The red cluster comprises journals with a primary focus on climate change and related policies, while the blue cluster consists of journals predominantly dedicated to environmental science. The green cluster primarily concentrates on environmental science and green sustainable development technologies, while the yellow cluster represents the sources of articles published in the field of environmental economics.

Table 1 showcases the major journals that publish on carbon finance and carbon markets. Broadly speaking, these journals primarily cover publications in the areas of energy, environmental science, and economics. This observation suggests that the field of carbon finance and carbon markets is an interdisciplinary subject that intersects with economics, energy, and environmental science, particularly in the context of climate change. Notably, finance journals are absent from the list, which supports the conclusion drawn by Zhang et al. (2019) that carbon finance has not yet received significant attention in mainstream economic or finance journal research. This implies that there is still substantial work to be done in this area, and future research has a long way to go.
