In recent days, due to the advancement of our standard of living, more children than ever are experiencing obesity and unfitness. There are people who believe that it is the government's responsibility to deal with this issue; however, I do not quite agree with this statement. We have to admit the fact that there are many healthy and fit young people who live and study in the same community as those who are overweight. Therefore, school schedules or dishes in canteens should not be blamed for the prevalence of overweight children. So, where is the point in letting governments help solve individual health problems if it has nothing to do with the general public?
Apart from medical or genetic problems, being overweight usually boils down to two reasons: consuming too much and exercising too little. This is a phenomenon that people nowadays often encounter. Thanks to the development of technology, we can choose to take a taxi instead of walking and have the opportunity to indulge in a satisfying feast of tasty junk food, which people in the past could not even imagine. However, we can choose to be healthy not with the help of governmental laws or restrictions, but with our own self-discipline. Young people can have a balanced diet with enough vegetables at school if they prioritize their health. On the contrary, a student who does not view fitness as something important would not resist the temptation of grabbing a bar of candy even after endless health lessons.
In conclusion, it is the inner desire to stay healthy that assists in achieving the perfect fitness level of a child rather than governmental help. Children should develop their own ability to keep fit instead of relying on external assistance.
