The rich and bold flavors of Napa Valley and Sonoma County wines have always captivated my palate. However, the Pinot Noirs I tasted in Chile were simply exquisite.

The first vineyard we visited was Comp Sur, located in the Casablanca Valley. The cool climate of this region is perfect for growing Pinot Noir grapes, and it truly showed in the wine. The Comp Sur Pinot Noir had a beautiful ruby color and a delicate aroma of red berries and spices. The taste was smooth and velvety, with a perfect balance of fruitiness and earthiness. It was a true delight to savor every sip.

The second vineyard we explored was a little gem called Fabulous Pinots. As the name suggests, their specialty lies in crafting exceptional Pinot Noir wines. The owners, a talented couple with a passion for winemaking, treated us to a tasting of their various Pinot Noir vintages.

Each wine had its own unique character and expression. From light and elegant to rich and full-bodied, they showcased the versatility of the Pinot Noir grape. The Fabulous Pinots Pinot Noirs had a beautiful complexity of flavors, with notes of cherries, blackberries, and subtle hints of oak. It was a true testament to the skill and dedication of the winemakers.

While my loyalty to California wines remains unwavering, I must admit that the Pinot Noirs from these Chilean vineyards left a lasting impression. Their quality and craftsmanship were truly remarkable. It goes to show that great wines can be found in unexpected places, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to explore and appreciate the vineyards of Chile
