S. Miltiorrhiza seeds with uniformity in size and integrity were carefully selected and subjected to a 10-minute sterilization process using 10% sodium hypochlorite (v/v). After thorough rinsing with distilled water, the seeds were planted in plastic pots (30 cm diameter × 20 cm height) containing 0.9 L of vermiculite that was previously sterilized. The experiment was divided into three distinct groups, with sowing in February, May, and July, respectively, and were marked as TF, TM, and TJ. At the time of the drought treatment, the S. miltiorrhiza plants in the three groups were in the seedling, nutritional growth, and reproductive growth stages, respectively. For each experimental group, 42 pots with comparable growth potential were selected, and subdivided into 7 treatments, each of which was replicated 6 times
